Victim Outreach Information

Advocates provide crisis intervention, criminal justice information and referrals to help victims and witnesses deal with the trauma and life change that result from criminal acts.

Victims are educated about the affects of the trauma. Coping strategies are identified and victims are offered referrals to community resources. They are informed of their rights as afforded by the Colorado Constitution, helped with the application for Crime Victims' Compensation and given referrals to help with emergency safety or financial needs. As needed, 3rd party mediation is provided to employers, family, or others who may impact a victim’s recovery. On-going support is provided throughout the criminal justice process.

VOI administers a Victim Subsidy Fund to benefit victims in the First Judicial District. This fund, provided by a VALE grant, enables us to provide financial support when community resources have been exhausted. It also serves as an emergency fund for awards that are later reimbursed by the Crime Victim Compensation Program.

We provide training to law enforcement, the community and other agencies and are active on committees that impact victim services and promote multi-disciplinary cooperation and policy including:

  • Jefferson/Gilpin Counties' Community Crisis Response Team
  • Jefferson County Child Protection Team
  • Adult Diversion Council
  • Domestic Violence Fast Track Committee

  • Crime Victim Compensation Board Meetings
