2007 Statistics

VOI identified 1080 crimes that met the eligibility criteria for crime victim services in through a review of police reports in the cities of Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Golden, Edgewater, Mountain View, Lakeside and Colorado School of Mines, Jefferson County, Colorado.

At the request of police, VOI advocates responded to the scene of the crime, hospital or police department 228 times.

Services were provided to 1522 primary victims of crime and an additional 459 friends of family members who were impacted by the crime(secondary victims). Of the total, 389 were children who either witnessed violence in their homes, were victims of abuse themselves or were victims of sexual assault.

VOI advocates helped 426 adults and 294 children who where hurt during the 340 domestic violence related crimes reported in VOI's service area. 

Breakdown by Type of Victimization (includes primary and secondary victims)

  • 31 child victims of physical abuse
  • 64 child victims of sexual abuse and 88 non-offending parents
  • 17 victims of  DUI or DWI crashes
  • 426 adult victims of domestic violence related crimes and 55 adult secondary victims (19 of these included stalking charges and 10 kidnapping)
  • 294 child victims of domestic violence
  • 60 adult victims of sexual assault and 24 secondary victims (friends or family supporters)
  • 5 victims of elder abuse
  • 84 victims of robbery and 19 secondary victims
  • 161 citizen assists (non-crime related, suicide, unattendended deaths, traffic, etc.)
  • 171 property crimes
  • 113 victims of assault (not related to domestic violence)
